About the role

We are currently recruiting for a Food Process Engineer at our Glamsbjerg Taste & Nutrition production facility in the south of Denmark.

The role of the Process Engineer is to maintain and optimise existing processes, equipment, control systems and settings constantly striving to improve quality, efficiency and safety.  Supporting operations and managing production issues to conclusion, where necessary engaging with various departments or functions within Kerry and/or suppliers to resolve issues quickly.   Design, trial and implement new processes and manage scale-up of products from development through to commercialisation.

This is a permanent, full-time position. 

Key responsibilities


  • Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety.  Ensures all process related activities associated with any change or improvement does not breach the appropriate health and safety standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Kerry policies and standards are implemented and adhered to while ensuring  regional, national and local legislative requirements are met.
  • Leads or assists in troubleshooting and optimising the production process to eliminate product losses, improve quality, plant capacity, throughput, conversion cost and safety
  • Improves end to end process capability of production lines by applying sound engineering principles to reduce variation, and continuous improvement principles to reduce waste.
  • Implements and collects reliable line data, performs analyses, provides recommendations for improvement and implements improvement strategies driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost per tonne.
  • Leads or supports the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations in conjunction with RD&A and plant resources.
  • Develops and maintains all relevant documentation, diagrams, databases, spreadsheets, programs and lists.
  • Responsible for the management & implementation of small scale capital improvement projects and/or trials to agreed timeframes, budget and scope limits including the management of internal or external resources to complete such projects.
  • Maintain and deploy a broad knowledge of industry trends/innovations and where possible implement new process technology innovation to enhance Kerry manufacturing capability.
  • Responsible for the effective management of change for all processes & equipment under your remit.

Qualifications and skills


  • Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or Process Engineering & Design
  • Experience in a similar role within food or dairy manufacturing.  Experience of Milk processing, drying, Milling, baking, powder handling, extrusion, packing experience are highly desirable.
  • Strong Knowledge of Process improvement best practice tools and techniques.  A qualification in Six Sigma or LEAN would be an advantage.
  • Excellent design & problem-solving skills, understanding of root cause analysis
  • Strong computer skills in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  CAD experience is highly desirable.
  • An excellent history of interpreting CAD drawings, for electrical, mechanical and facilities. 
  • Strong knowledge of Health, safety and environmental regulation
  • Strong knowledge in Food safety compliance
  • Budget management & costing model experience
  • Highly organised with excellent communication skills
