About the role

  • We are recruiting for a Category Manager to join our Private Label & Branded Butters & Spreads business. This is a GB based role attached to our offices in Egham. Reporting into the Category Lead, you will get an exciting breadth of exposure across both Private Label and Branded ranges, and take ownership for a portfolio of top 5 grocery accounts.
  • Join and help us continue to win in the market by enabling Kerry and its’ customers to adopt a shared category vision through supporting the creation of category development plans, identifying opportunities that optimise growth for Kerry Foods, it’s brands and its customers. You must be instrumental in delivering category & customer strategies which address consumer needs and influence shopper behaviour in order to drive category growth through championing the voice of the shopper and customer both internally and externally

Key responsibilities

  • Ensuring that a tailored category vision and strategy is in place, and tactics are defined, reviewed, tracked and aligned with Business Unit goals to unlock Category & business growth across a selection of top 5 grocery accounts.
  • Manage superior, wide reaching relationships within the customers to unlock opportunities for Kerry. 
  • Understand how a category performs and how shoppers behave in different channels and formats, so that specific recommendations can be made.
  • Use data from multiple sources to assess the category situation and build recommendations to drive performance based on key insights.
  • Deliver recommendations for optimal distribution, range, space & merchandising layouts, for the category by channel aligned with category and customer strategies, for prioritised customers. 
  • White space opportunities defined & supported by compelling insights. Compile and deliver compelling category selling stories. Optimise the growth of Brand Innovation ranges.
  • Documented plan, implement and review actions by category/sub category/range supported by customer, shopper, consumer, brand insight.

Qualifications and skills

  • Dynamic, can do, passionate, and proven track record of delivering for internal and external cutomers
  • Degree level preferred
  • 2 year + experience in a category role
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and join the dots between multiple data sources to build credible category stories, and use this information to define category tactics
  • Knowledge of UK Customers & trade Channels & allocated Customers & their shoppers.
  • Knowledge of shopper missions, mindsets & journeys in categories and channels
  • Ability to manage & prioritise Customer and internal work demands
  • Excellent relationship building & Customer facing ability & skills
  • Impactful and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to influence and challenge thinking and decision making internally & externally
