About The Role:

Initially based at Kerry's New Germany manufacturing site in Durban, and will move permanently to the Hammersdale site, the Quality Systems Supervisor will be responsible fo ensure that the Quality Systems at the site are in adherence with local and international standards and accrediting bodies.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Quality Management Systems adhering to local and international standards, including GMP, HACCP, AIB, BRC, Halaal, ISO 17025
  • Support all customer & 3rd party audit including leading/ organizing annual/ monthly audit
  • Analyse trends and report monthly on Quality & Food Safety KPIs
  • Perform HACCP reviews, including CCPs validation & verification
  • Advise on Quality / Food safety compliance for  new product upscale, new raw material & second source up scale
  • Oversee Pest Management Program
  • Manage Traceability & Product Recall
  • Support customer requests including questionnaire & technical data
  • Manage document control system
  • Investigate customer complaints and provide follow up corrective /preventive action
  • Establish & maintain quality & food safety trend analysis
  • Establish & maintain nonconforming database
  • Follow up corrective /preventive action /database/trend analysis
  • Organise annual HACCP management annual review
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Completed Bachelors or higher Degree in Food Science or a related field
  • At least 7 years’ experience in food/ingredient business
  • Strong experience in Quality Management Systems  
  • Highly knowledgeable in food safety legislation and compliance
  • Previous experience successfully maintaining BRC, AIB, ISO 17025 accreditation
  • High levels of comfort in managing internal and external Audits
  • Experience in Pest Management
  • IT Skills e.g. Excel, Word, SAP (advantageous, but not essential)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Team player, ability to work in cross-functional teams
