Relief Van Sales Representative

We are on the hunt for an ambitious, driven and commercially focussed Relief Van Sales Representative who is keen to join a company where they can make a real difference!

In Kerry Foods we sell leading chilled food brands Denny, Dairygold and Charleville along with other brands to retailers across the country.

As a Relief Van Sales Representative, you will drive a truck on a number of established routes to provide absence cover to our Van Sales Team across ROI.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in Van Sales and must hold a valid C1 Driver’s License.

Ideally, the suitable candidate will be based in the North Leinster/Midlands area. As part of the role, overnights will be required on occasion.

Key responsibilities

About the role & Key Responsibilities:

Execute the business plan in conjunction with your Sales Manager. Identify new sales leads in the area and provide a first-class service to our regular customers.

Achieve sales, distribution and promotional targets as directed by the Sales Manager. Comply with all Kerry Foods policies, Health & Safety and driving legislation.

Role model the Kerry Foods values. Develop relationships and successfully influence key decision makers in stores.

  • Ensure adequate supplies of stock availability across a listed range for our customer
  • Drive the distribution and availability of our range
  • Validate stock ordered to your truck each morning
  • Control sale or return of products in line with agreed limits
  • Complete all necessary paperwork to an agreed standard
  • Account for all monies and stock in your care
  • Maintain company vehicles in a clean, tidy and safe condition
  • Feedback trade insights, competitor activity, retailer activity etc to the Sales Manager
  • Negotiate and implement store planograms with a view to increase sales
  • Support company promotions and product launches in line with business needs
  • Be the point of contact for the team when the Sales Manager is unavailable
  • Van accompaniments and assist in training requirements
  • Any Ad hoc duties that may be required to ensure smooth operations of the business

Qualifications and skills

About the candidate:

  • Experience in a similar FMCG direct to store role would be desirable
  • Full clean C1 Drivers Licence
  • Up to date CPC card desirable
  • Strong communication and reporting skills essential
  • Creativity & ability to work off own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Ability to manage stocks and reconcile cash
  • A good sales instinct with ability to sell a variety of products
  • PC literacy - knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Handheld skills an advantage
  • Flexibility is required to work outside of normal hours to suit the requirements of the business
