About the role

The role of the Project Engineer is to maintain and optimise existing processes, equipment, control systems and settings constantly striving to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.

Supporting operations and managing production issues to conclusion, where necessary engaging with various departments or functions within Kerry and/or suppliers to resolve issues quickly.

The successful candidate will also design, trial and implement new processes and manage scale-up of products from development through to commercialisation.

Key responsibilities


  • Demonstrates leadership in safety and ensures all project activities associated with any project exceed the appropriate health and safety standards.

  • Ensuring all infrastructure and/or equipment selected is fit for purpose and fulfils all regional, national and local legislative regulatory requirement

  • Leads and collaborates in troubleshooting and optimising the production process to eliminate product losses; improve quality, plant capacity, throughput, conversion cost and safety 

  • Improves end to end process capability of production lines by applying sound engineering principles to reduce variation; and continuous improvement principles to reduce waste (product, raw material, packaging, etc.)

  • Supports and/or leads in the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations in conjunction with RD&A and plant resources.

  • Developing and/or maintaining Process and Product Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, and specifications for the installation of equipment to support production & engineering teams

  • Responsible for ensuring that all designs meet Kerry standards, requirements and policies.

  • Management & implementation of small scale capital improvement projects and/or trials to agreed timeframes, budget and scope limits including the management of internal or external resources to complete such projects.

Qualifications and skills


  • Degree in Engineering or relevant Science discipline, Process Engineering & Design highly desirable.

  • Strong Knowledge of project management best practice tools and techniques; combined with significant experience in managing engineering projects. 

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role

  • 3+ years supervisory/leadership experience in project management in a manufacturing environment

  • Excellent design & problem solving skills

  • Food industry knowledge.

  • Proven track record building solid working relationships

  • Strong computer skills in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Highly effective at interpreting CAD drawings, for electrical, mechanical and facilities.

  • Budget management & costing model experience

  • Strong knowledge of Health, safety and environmental regulation

  • Strong knowledge in Food safety compliance
