We have an immediate opening for a 2nd shift Senior Lab Technician, the schedule is 2:00pm - 10:30pm Monday through Friday with overtime as needed.
What you'll do:
Do you thrive in a fast-paced team environment and work closely with production and other colleagues? The Senior Lab Technician's primary purpose is to evaluate raw material, in process, or finished products as well as provide support to the quality function in meeting department goals.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Expedite evaluation process and final disposition and provide information to production.
- Develop and maintain raw material and finished product specifications.
- Trouble shoots quality lab instruments.
- Compound samples for projects as required.
- Participate in the development of special processes to improve quality.
- Participate in sensory test panels.
- Maintain laboratory data, files, supplies, and calibrate equipment on a regular schedule as well as maintaining databases.
- Work on the RCA & CAPA for internal product issues and customer complaints.
- Follows all quality, safety, and company protocols & procedures.
- May perform other duties as required by the department.
What you'll need to be successful and safe:
Minimum Requirements:
- BS Degree in Chemistry, Food science or an applied science
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a laboratory environment.
- HPLC, Gas Chromatography (GC), and wet chemistry testing.
- Perform sensory, analytical testing (pH, Titration, SG/RI testing, spectrophotometer etc..) and /or instrumental evaluation of raw material, in process, or finished products following SOP and specifications.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to be exposed to and perform sensory evaluation on a variety of flavor products including savory/meat products, essential oils and raw materials.
- Must be able to stand and work at a lab bench for long periods of time.
- Must be able to see to operate equipment and interpret results.
Working Environment:
- Laboratory environment with some exposure to production environment.
The typical hiring range for this role is $27.00 - $32.00 per hour and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime.
