About the role

Position Objective and Overview of Role:

Provide technical and administrative support for the daily operation of the Taste R&D laboratory. Responsibilities will include ordering and maintaining lab supplies and flavors/ingredients inventories and keeping track of sample shipments in and out.  Provide support for the R&D staff preparing and setting up samples for taste evaluation and taking and maintaining evaluation records for the team.  Provide administrative and technical support for addressing customer requests, flavor scale-up and commercialization, maintain flavor formulas by running lab experiments as instructed by R&D staffs, and introduction of new raw materials.  Candidate should demonstrate scientific curiosity, be able to multitask and employ efficient time management techniques. A willingness to work in a team, with a positive attitude, bring new ideas to the table and evaluate multiple products daily.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist Flavorists creating value added Taste products with a point of difference by utilizing innovative technologies and differentiating Taste raw materials. 
  • Assess new flavour ingredients and technologies in simple solutions for supporting Flavorists creating and optimizing differentiating Taste solutions.
  • Organize and prepare samples for tasting sessions with Flavorist and application team members for both lab evaluations and sensory panels.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including shipping and sampling department, R&D technologists, plant/production staffs, project managers, application staff, and others working in the same project.
  • Ensure efficient experiments throughput projects by organizing and maintaining all laboratory supplies, stocks, and flavor ingredients adhering to the safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Participate in sensory panels and other developmental opportunity sample evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned pertaining to business/project needs.

Qualifications and skills


Experience / Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science in science; chemistry and food science desirable
  • 1-2 years experience working in the food industry or lab environment
  • Familiar with experimental design, standard laboratory data logging and reporting.
