What will you do?

Responsible for developing savory innovation technologies and Taste solutions, contributing to the growth objectives of the Global Taste Innovation Platforms in savory category. He/She will work on global savory projects, delivering results against technology gaps and needs in Kerry by collaborating closely with key stakeholders and partnering departments including regional Flavorist technology champions, RD&A Scientists and Technologists, Portfolio Manager, Marketing, Sensory, Savory EUM, Operation, and Regulatory.

  • Build and improve Kerry innovation technology portfolio in the savory category including reaction/process flavors, top note flavors, savory modulation, and differentiating technologies in plant protein.
  • Assess new Flavor ingredients and technologies; be able to build technology-driven flavor blocks and keys.
  • Lead and execute assigned global innovation projects working in collaboration with partnering RD&A scientists and technologies as well as key business stakeholders.
  • Lead or co-lead strategic customer and must-win commercial briefs working in collaboration with commercial Flavorists in the regions.
  • Support Senior Flavorists on strategic internal/external technology presentation including designing and preparing technology demos.
  • Establish and maintain a global network and communication with regional Flavorist technology champions being able to provide references and information on new technologies.
  • Follow best practices creating flavors in alignment with lab safety protocols.
  • Prepare and maintain technical records on all assigned projects and meet project deadlines.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including R&D technologists, plant/production, sampling/quality, shipping/receiving, project managers, application staff, and others working in the same project.
  • Participate in sensory panels and other developmental opportunity sample evaluations.
     

Key Deliverables

  • Develop new screening methods for evaluating and validating savory technologies.
  • Master savory lab equipment understanding its operation for day-to-day flavor development work; consult and work in collaboration with RD&A Technologists and engineers. Master company software and systems for executing flavor creation and related work.
  • Follow through and complete assigned tasks within due dates; be proactive as necessary seeking information to complete the job.

 

What will you need to be successful?

  • Bachelor of Science in chemistry or food science.
  • Master's or PhD degree preferred.  
  • Minimum 15 years of experience working as a savory flavorist with proven track record of flavorist training and savory flavor creation, preferably specialized in the process/reaction flavor and seasoning creations.
  • Understand savory application and worked with culinary chefs.
  • Ability to work in multicultural and virtual teams.
  • Ability to present technical work to internal and external customers.
  • Work environment: mix of office, laboratories and pilot/production sites.
  • Flexible to travel: 25%
