At our Clark, NJ facility, we are part of the Taste division. The Clark manufacturing facilities have 9 work centers with processing capabilities in Liquid Flavor Compounding, Dry Blending, Extractions, Distillations, Spray Dry, Emulsions, Essential Oils, Oleo Resins, Juice Blending.  As a team, we are proud to see our products on shelves in-stores. We have an immediate opening for a 3rd shift Lab Technician, the schedule is 10:00pm - 6:30am Monday through Friday with overtime as needed. 

What you'll do:

Do you thrive in a fast-paced team environment and work closely with production and other colleagues? The Lab Technician makes quick decisions and uses sound judgement to make rational decisions pertaining to recommended adjustments, corrective actions and disposition of goods.

 

Accuracy Counts! You'll be responsible for conducting required tests, analysis, and/or verification steps to assure that raw materials, batched product, and finished product exceeds established quality standards. The Lab Technician verifies conformity through measurement and assessment. 

 

Strong attention to detail is a must. Strict adherence to procedures, policies, and instructions. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Maintain log(s) of all samples for evaluation.

2. Prepare composite samples.

3. Perform visual and odor screening to become knowledgeable regarding raw materials and products.

4. Verify sample information.

5. Prepare materials and products for laboratory evaluation.

6. Learn sensory, physical, chemical, or instrumental evaluation methods.

7. Retrieve standards and generate worksheets.

8. Maintain clean & safe lab equipment and environment.

9. Utilizes wet chemical, instrumental, physical, and or sensory methods to determine specification parameters of raw materials and finished products.

10. Submit evaluation results to respective areas involved

11. May perform other duties as required by the Department.

12. Follows all quality, safety, and company protocols & procedures.

What you'll need to be successful and safe:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required;
  • College degree in biotechnology, microbiology, food science, or a related field would be preferred.
  • Experience with GMP, HACCP, FSMA, FCC/USP/ASTA test methods, aseptic technique and food or pharmaceutical production is desired.
  • 2+ years' experience as a lab technician, quality control, or related role.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Must possess basic computer skills; knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs required. Knowledge of MS Office and SAP preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Exposure to hazards (machinery, confined spaces, etc.)
  • Must be able to work in and around loud noise levels, industrial machinery, air-conditioned environments suitable for carrying out controlled tests

 

The typical hiring range for this role is $24.00 - $27.00 per hour and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime.  In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
