About the role

Manage the material (both raw materials and imported finished goods) ordering process to meet target stock levels and agreed customer and/or production dates. Manage slow moving and aging inventory reduction plan.  Mitigate risk of excess & obsolescence. Increase materials planning service level through lead-time & MOQ reduction and ensuring AOS (availability of supply). Identify cost and risk implications due to customer order changes and implement mechanism to capture and recommend solutions on materials management 

Key responsibilities

  • Review and utilise MRP exception monitor to execute material planning process
  • PO expediting (Oversea Supplier)-    Import documents monitor & control via system.
  • Ensure eligible raw material have sales tax exemption
    • Expedite open purchase orders with suppliers and confirm arrival dates and documentation, follow these steps:
    • Generate a PO Overdue report to obtain a summary of all open POs issued.
    • Obtain shipping details and documentation for incoming import shipments.
    • Obtain firm delivery dates and documentation for incoming orders.
    • Monitor and closely follow up on the arrival of raw materials.
    • Provide the warehouse, QA, and planner with a summary schedule to confirm incoming raw materials.
    • For importation, communicate with the forwarder to address any importation issues and compile a full set of shipping documents to send to the forwarder.
    • For local orders, liaise with the supplier to confirm delivery dates and update the system accordingly.
  • Independently analyse data and determine course of action required to achieve material planning targets and objectives.
  • Identify risk and inventory holding cost due to order changes and recommend solutions.
  • Collaboration work with Suppliers, Procurements, and relevant stakeholders to determine effective level of Materials positioned for production.
  • Drive efficiency through consolidation & optimised ordering from suppliers and delivery plan (VMI).
  • Inventory Accuracy, Safety stocks, Excess & Obsolescence, Aging & Slow-Moving Stocks Management.
  • STO Planning as part of material purchase process.
  • Resolve all AP query regarding to PO/STO.
  • Review weekly report prepared and identify the aging stock action for SLE and consumption.
  • Timely Challenge on forecast accuracy to Supply Planner found deviation on demand.
  • Coordinate and manage the incoming torn bag claim with vendor or supply site.
  • Review and provide monthly forecast to vendor when necessary.
  • To work out contingency plan to minimize / cover ad hoc issues (quality, shipment dela.etc)
  • Perform ad-hoc projects and other duties as and when required.

Qualifications and skills

  • Candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience within the Supply Chain or Material Planning function 
  • Must be coming from a manufacturing background – food industry is preferable 
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems is essential; SAP experience is a definite advantage. 
  • Possess an open nature / collaborative mind-set that enables you to work with people from different functions and levels 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that exemplify the highest level of professionalism in both internal and external environments 
  • Strong organization and time management skills 
  • Strong problem-solving skills; the ability to ask the right questions, help frame logical conclusions and arrive at effective solutions 
  • Possess strong planning and analytical skills and be able to take complex issues and break down actions for resolutions and working with tight deadlines
