About the role

Develop and implement an effective CI strategy that encompasses all site functions for the 9 Fleischmann's Vinegar manufacturing plants located strategically across the United States. Ensure this strategy meets the goals of the sites and overall business strategy ensuring all stakeholders are engaged. Continually review and adjust the strategy in line with internal and external changes.  Plan all site activities on a master schedule and hold others accountable to the timelines to ensure the on-time delivery of the strategy.

 

Key responsibilities

Plant Transformation

Identify & deliver margin enhancing cost optimization initiatives.
Design & implement the of ways of working & behaviors to sustain initiatives captured.
Create & embed a ‘cost ownership’ mentality within the team. 

Performance Management System
Ensure the sites' key performance indicators (KPI’s) (Safety, Quality, Service and Cost) are achieved through a rigorous performance management system.
Implement the standard meeting governance that supports delivery of the metrics.
Identify performance gaps, trends and actions required to improve.
Align the site KPI structure with functional and global metrics.
Support the establishment of floor level metrics within the KPI tree. 

Team Development
Act as a change agent, coaching, mentoring, and influencing at all levels to affect the required CI culture. Act as a key member and influencer within the Fleischmann's Vinegar leadership team.  Facilitate the education of the team in the principles, philosophies, and tools of CI.
Administer training programs that foster cross-functional deployment of continuous improvement.
Develop, train and mentor employees to foster a strong culture of continuous improvement.
Collaborate with counterparts within and outside the regions to ensure consistency among processes and procedures. 

Challenge management thinking and insist on appropriate practices such as:
Visiting the factory floor daily to engage hourly experts in problem solving
Confirming standardized processes
Demanding factual data
Insisting that problems are made visible
Questioning to ensure the root cause has been found
Supporting the standard meeting governance 

Standardization

Drive the standardization of all structures, work, training, procedures & records across the plants.
Ensure the new standard is documented, trained & confirmed when improvements are made to processes.

Maturity Assessment
Conduct ongoing reviews of the plants' continuous improvement performance to understand level of maturity.
Create plans and engage with the leadership team to close any gaps identified.

Benchmark yourself against the best; take personal responsibility for growing yourself and your career.
Demonstrate self-awareness: leverage your strengths and work to close the gaps.
Be open to new ideas and feedback from others and be prepared to take personal risk in order to accelerate your growth.

Qualifications and skills

CI Knowledge: Deep understanding of the principles and tools of lean manufacturing and six sigma is key to delivering the requirements of the role.
 Certification through an organization such as the American Society for Quality is a strong plus.
 Experience of managing a multi-functional team in a high-speed process environment for a minimum of 5 years is essential.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, business, management or a related discipline. 
Builds Effective Teams: The ability to lead through development & education of others is essential. 

Instils Trust: To be respected and seen as a credible source of knowledge by the site leadership team is essential.
Achieved by having an in-depth knowledge of all technologies and processes onsite. 

Strategic Mindset: The ability to align the site strategy with that of the overall organisation.
The ability to deploy the site strategy throughout the business, ensuring that every team member knows how they contribute to the site goals.
The ability to communicate targets & goals in a clear concise fashion at all levels within the business. 
Very proficient with the use of Microsoft office suite including statistical software like Minitab.
Extensive experience with facilitating group problem solving sessions (Kaizen Events and Lean Six Sigma Projects). 

Ensures Accountability: An insatiable appetite for better performance is essential.
Devotion to standardization ensuring a system is in place to manage every process on site.
To be very structured and disciplined in adherence to standards set and hold others accountable if they are not being followed.
To be an assertive example to all team members of how things should be done. 

Leading Change: Actively and visibly sponsors the need for change. Leads and implements positive change.
Demonstrates the flexibility and adaptability to be successful in a changing environment. 

Travel will be required (approximately 50%) with flexibility to support key priorities in the business ( several sites )
