About the role

We have a new and exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our team in Kerry Foods, Charleville, Co Cork. You will be the sites sole Engineering Manager reporting to the General Manager and sit within the sites Senior Leadership team, you will also have 16 direct reports. The successful candidate will also have 5 years’ experience working at Senior level with strategic experience but also be hands on in terms of problem solving within a highly automated environment.

Purpose of the position:

Be a core part of the site leadership team enabling business growth through continually improving the performance of the engineering function and collaborating with site colleagues to increase the performance of the site.

Responsibilities are listed but not limited to:

  • To develop an engineering strategy for the site. This should involve defining and integrating best in class structure and ways of working in line with the business strategy.
  • Support the KPS program through optimized engineering planning, A3 problem solving and performance management of the team. Engineering process mechanical, electrical, and control design to eliminate problems.
  • Implement an asset management program to cover process equipment, services and manufacturing facility. Selection and standardisation of technology, equipment and machine parts. Fully documented supporting procedures.
  • Management of capital budgets and implementation of capital projects. These include process, NPI, service and facility projects. Use of gant charts, risk identification, and standardised Purchase Agreements to optimise project success.
  • Engineering stores management. Develop and document best practice policy, strategy plans and visual KPI’s. including cost reduction, inventory reduction, availability obsolescence and data base accuracy. Implement a process of Continuous Improvement.
  • Engineering team recruitment, performance management, training and development plans. Develop a culture of continuous improvement. Address departmental IR issues. Succession planning.
  • Management and control of contractors in compliance with group and site work safety procedures.
  • Compliance with regulatory, customer, environmental, insurance and safety requirements. Ensure all audit non conformances have been addressed.
  • To stand in for another functional manager as required.

Person Requirements:

  • Degree in electrical, mechanical or Automation
  • Qualification in Project Management is desirable
  • Computer skilled
  • Min 5 years industrial experience in Food Manufacturing or FMCG
  • Strong experience within a highly automated environment
