Quality Leader, Kerry Foods Carrickmacross

This is a fixed term contract to cover a maternity cover. This role would suit an ambitious and dynamic individual looking to gain experience in a fast paced FMCG. You will have previous quality/technical experience, ideally in a production facility.

This role is an integral part of our overall Quality function on site, you will play a key part in providing technical support to the production team to ensure current product quality & safety standards are maintained and enhanced where appropriate.

The Quality Leader must work with the Production Management team to build relationships, develop trust and promote a quality first culture thus enabling the effective and sustainable transfer of Quality responsibilities to the site through a programme of education and training.

Reporting to: Quality Manager

Key responsibilities

 About the role:

  • To standardise all structures, work, training, procedures & records in line with the factory H.A.C.C.P.  and lean manufacturing principles.
  • To ensure all customer, third party auditor and external body requirements are incorporated fully into standardised work.
  • To ensure all standardised work is conducted in a hygienic, safe manner in line with Best Manufacturing Practice in the food industry.
  • To continuously strive for 100% Right First manufacturing
  • To utilise the A3 Problem Solving tool as a means to addressing the root cause of quality problems. To continually improve quality performance against set Key Performance Indicators.
  • To ensure site is driving complaint reduction projects in line with customer expectations.
  • To support site in HACCP/Allergen/Speciation/CIP validation works
  • Responds to information requests from others in a timely manner.
  • Organises own work and that of others using basic tools such as to-do lists, timelines and checklists.
  • Collects, analyses, and interprets data to draw key conclusions that aid in decision making and day-to-day operations.
  • Shows attention to detail and checks accuracy of own and/or others work.
  • Auditing: Ensuring all areas are audited to 5S Standard and corrective actions are completed in a timely manner. Red Pen Audits carried out on all paperwork and ensuring production streams are compliant with relevant Standard Procedures.
  • Proactively identifies and highlights problems that will prevent achievement of goals.
  • Assertively tackles areas of concern to positively impact the behaviour of the P.S.M. and Group Leader to the mantra “find a problem, fix a problem, prevent it from coming back” – gets their whole-hearted commitment to resolving the issue.
  • Suggests appropriate improvements when normal channels are ineffective or do not exist.
Qualifications and skills


About you:

  • Diploma or higher in a Food Science related subject.
  • Proven track record in a Quality role.
  • Numerical ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office tools. 
  • Understanding of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems Knowledge
