About the role

The primary purpose of HSE Coordinator is to drive proactive HSE programmes to ensure the safety of employees through the continuous improvement of OSH standards, good governance, and compliance with HSE regulations and all statutory requirements relating to the Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental function.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Health, Safety and Environmental management
  • Conduct Risk Assessments
  • Maintain relevant HSE logs, documentation and reports as necessary
  • Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations
  • Support and advice on HSE issues to make recommendations to facility management
  • Participate / lead in incident investigations and review investigation findings for accuracy, identification of root causes and appropriate corrective / preventive actions
  • Communicate and share lessons from HSE incidents that impact all company operations in a timely, thorough, and effective manner
  • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSE training
  • Observe HSE regulations and drives as safety culture which encourages safe working practices
  • Correct obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the management team
  • Ability to work with employees and achieve safety cultural change in the face of potential resistance
  • Maintain positive and proactive relations with the managers and employees, as well as our customer and regulatory agencies
  • Perform other work-related tasks as required and assigned within the HSE Department
  • Upkeep and comply with all Kerry policies and procedures

Qualifications and skills

  • Minimum Diploma in Engineering, Safety, Health & Environmental Science or relevant discipline
  • Fresh Graduate or candidate with 1 years of HSE or relevant work/ internship experience, preferably with some experience in Food / Pharmaceutical, with knowledge / experience of Health and Safety and Environmental issues
  • Ability to manage change as directed by the company or legislation
  • Experienced in managing and coaching teams to drive HSE initiatives
  • Management / liaison with both staff and the insurance companies regarding claims
  • Basic knowledge of the Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Protection Laws & Regulations
  • Experienced with compliance audits and HSE management systems
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team and have little need for close management supervision and direction
  • Ability to persuade and influence others effectively
  • Highly organized with strong administrative skills and an eye for details
