What the Role Is

The Blending Operator is responsible for preparing and mixing batches according to the customers’ instructions.  This role is relied upon to follow "recipes" and correctly calculate ingredients amounts to load machines with specific ingredients. This position is also responsible for sterilizing raw product using the processing unit and ensuring the sterility of the product to and from the filler.  The process operator must learn and become able to operate all processing equipment.  Reporting to the Production Supervisor, every team member is responsible for safety!

What You'll Do

  • Mix and blend batches according to customer formulas, verifying each ingredient and amount that has been added to the batch.
  • Record all data correctly to the batch sheet.
  • Verify ingredient lot numbers and quantities prior to their use. 
  • Continuously monitor all process controls and documentation, signing charts and recording processor parameters
  • Monitor the system for any issues that may affect sterility and report any mechanical issues that may impact the performance of the processor.
  • Assemble and disassemble pumps and piping as needed for production, CIP and sterilization.
  • Maintain an appropriate amount of product in the system so no time is lost waiting on a batch to finish or clear QA analysis.
  • Operate a lift truck to unload ingredients and return ingredients to proper storage area, use of RF scanners.
  • Routinely clean the processor, blend room, walls, sink, platform, tanks, doors and all associated piping.
  • Follow and abide by all safety regulations, good manufacturing practices (GMP), and IA policies and procedures as determined by management.
  • Follow written procedures for CIP, sterilization and flavor changes.
  • Teamwork is required to maintain our required production levels.  Must support the teamassist fellow blenders when needed.
  • Address and correct any unsafe conditions that are discovered.
  • Complete LTO checklists, maintain including charging & changing batteries properly
  • Complete processor verification and clearance reports.
  • Insure area is in proper order at shift change.
  • All other duties as required.


Qualifications and skills

  • HIgh School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Ability to maintain a good attendance record.
  • Must be self-motivated and conscientious.
  • Must be able to work well within a team and with other coworkers.
  • Basic knowledge of math and ability to use a calculator to figure sums, averages and ranges.
  • Mechanical aptitude and analytical skills.
  • Ability to complete certification requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to one hundred (100) pounds.
