About the role

The Lab Technician plays a vital part in supporting efficient production runs for the Kerry Penang site. Responsibilities include sampling, testing, troubleshooting, record-keeping, HACCP implementation, and ensuring cleanliness.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect finished product samples according to the sampling plan.

  • Conduct physical and chemical tests following the prescribed methods and testing frequency to support troubleshooting and investigations.

  • Perform foreign matter checks in accordance with SOP.

  • Conduct ATP and protein swabs on the processing line to support cleaning verification.

  • Carry out daily calibration of essential equipment in the physical lab.

  • Prepare chemical solutions as per work instructions.

  • Package and store reference and retention samples for each production run, ensuring detailed records are maintained.

  • Keep the retained samples room clean and organized at all times.

  • Ensure all testing and inspection activities are conducted according to established procedures.

  • Implement and maintain HACCP, Quality Control, and Good Laboratory Practices, including maintaining records and documentation.

  • Keep accurate records of all quality control check sheets and enter data into log sheets and the SAP system.

  • Communicate any issues with relevant departments, such as product concerns with production and line executives.

  • Maintain cleanliness in laboratories and QA areas, ensuring 5S principles are followed at all times.

  • Adhere to HSE and Life Safety requirements.

  • Complete shift-related documents, including attendance, overtime, and other HR-related requirements, and submit leave and OT requests as per procedure.

Qualifications and skills

  • Diploma or Degree in Science, preferably with a background in food or laboratory settings.

  • Proficient in both written and spoken English.

  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.

  • Strong analytical abilities and capable of working in a lab environment.

  • Willing to work rotating shifts.
