Key responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with Federal, provincial and local EHS regulations - by developing and implementing EHS programs, policies and management systems; interpreting standards; advising management on needed actions; enforcing adherence to regulations and corporate standards.
  • Guides and promotes safe work performance and act as internal reference - by training managers and employees; increasing safety awareness and knowledge among all staff; developing training programs; maintaining existing EHS programs; responding to employee concerns and requests; communicating health & safety information to the organization as appropriate; acting as a technical resource to the company.
  • Evaluating and controlling workplace hazards - by applying principles of industrial safety and risk assessment to assess and document the risks to employees posed by chemical agents, noise, equipment and other hazard sources in the workplace; investigating accidents/incidents; recommending and implementing appropriate controls.
  • Evaluating sewage effluent quality - by coordinating sampling of effluent; interpreting the data for non-compliance with by-law limits; communicating to management as necessary.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge - by attending educational workshops; reviewing EHS publications; establishing personal networks with staff and other EHS professionals; participation in professional societies.
  • Fulfill EHS regulatory requirement and report data to management - by gathering and compiling annual EHS data ; ensuring the accuracy of the data; ensuring that all submissions meet the required deadlines. Maintain Occupational Safety Information Database by developing information requirements; improving on existing information system
  • Establish and communicate L.I.F.E saving rules program
    • Training: Provide necessary guidance or training & committed to company training.
    • Communication: Effective two-way communication
    • Continuous Improvement: To participate in continuous improvement activities as necessary.
    • Quality: To ensure all works are done correctly, clear and good presentation.
    • Health & Safety: To ensure health and safety is taken care at all the times.
    • Customer (Internal / External): To understand the customer and consumer needs.
    • To perform any task assign by the superior from time to time

Qualifications and skills

  • Strong presentation and training skills.
  • Experience with compliance audits and safety management systems.
  • An excellent communicator (both oral and written) capable of conveying ideas and concepts, and making formal presentations.
  • Possess strong organizational and technical skills, a real passion for their work and driven to get the job done.
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills, be a proven team player and have a history of working effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent motivational skills, being able to influence others at all organizational levels.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Independent, resourceful and able to take pressure under fast pace work environment.
  • Proactive with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and have little need for close management supervision and direction.
  • Should be comfortable working in a fast changing and growing global environment where accountability, quality, timeliness are key components.
