About the role

Here at Kerry, we are currently recruiting for a Regional Process Safety Engineer based in the UK or Ireland on a full time, permanent basis. 

 

The successful candidate will support in developing new Kerry process safety management controls, build the PSM System, Gap Analysis the sites, develop roadmap and plan for PSM Implementation at sites with process safety risks.

 

You will also advise the sites on Process Hazard analysis tools - HAZOP, FMEA, LOPA, FTA, ETA, HAZID.

 

Within this role you will be working on a regional basis, alongside global colleagues to implement effective ways of work. The position will be hybrid between home and site with around 25-50% 'on the road' travel. 

Key responsibilities

  • Establishing and maintaining the Kerry Process Safety Management (PSM) Standard across Kerry T&N sites in the European Region.
  • Establish and maintain a framework to evaluate gap and PSM risks and controls across the Kerry Europe region
  • Maintains awareness of evolving regional/country regulations and standards, to ensure that our overall program is robust and updated 
  • Collaborates with process safety engineers at plant ensuring alignment across standards
  • Establishes collaborative and constructive relationships with manufacturing sites and relevant functions, demonstrating good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and driving improvements
  • Provides an appropriate input, thought leadership and support in problem solving non-conformances identified on sites and/or specific functional areas – fostering strong collaboration with regional EHS and extended Integrated Operations teams
  • Provides a visible leadership in developing compliant/efficient solution options areas requiring intervention
  • Where required, build and review PSM/EHS procedures and documentation developed in relation to the management of PSM risks
  • Works closely with the Global EHS and Engineering teams providing thought leadership and active engagement in supporting PSM development.
  • Act as a source of PSM information for EHS, Engineering and site teams
  • Analyze chemical process safety hazards associated with process operations and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Develop chemical process safety management plans including Process Hazard Analyses (PHA).
  • Coordinate and/or conduct safety reviews of process equipment and processes.
     

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Safety, Environment, Industrial Chemistry or Engineering Disciplines, advanced degree desirable.
  • Senior experience in Food or Pharma Global Industries; specialized in PSM, alongside experience as a Process Safety Engineer at site
  • Integrated knowledge of PSM frameworks and management systems and able to use a variety of PSM Tools Including

 

HAZOP Analysis

  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
  • Safety Integrity Level (SIL)
  • Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
  • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
  • Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
  • Knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and best practices in chemical process safety

 

  • Understanding of chemical processes and systems
  • Ability to develop and implement Process Safety Management systems
  • Ability to assess and monitor chemical process safety risks
  • Proficiency in performing root cause analysis and hazard identification
  • Experience in hazardous material handling and storage
  • Expertise in process safety incident management
  • Knowledge of process control systems and instrumentation
  • Ability to write and review safety protocols, policies, and procedures
  • Effectively communicate safety information to staff and management
  • Provide technical guidance to personnel on safety issues
  • Ability to develop and deliver safety training programs
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods
