Regional HSE Lead

About the role

Join our Kerry family as a Regional HSE Lead and support business strategy to ensure all HSE directives, policies, and initiatives are effectively incorporated at a cross-European level. This role can be based anywhere in Western Europe, preferably the UK, The Netherlands, Germany, France or Denmark.

Key responsibilities

  • Executes the overall Health, Safety and Environmental strategy, objectives and subsequent work plans.
  • Supports Health, Safety and Environmental activities to ensure both legislative and Kerry compliance is achieved through the development and implementation of appropriate programmes, practices and training.
  • Supports, designs and documents policies and procedures utilizing best practices for maximum efficiency and consistency. Adjust existing policies as necessary.
  • Responsible for capability building across the local HSE Team’s, providing leadership, coaching, motivation, support and mentoring as required whilst at all times acting as role model.
  • Monitor and interpret HSE regulatory changes and supports the Regional HSE Director with relevant implementation.
  • Collating regional KPIs and review progress against Regional & Global KPIs. Conducts root cause analysis on the data and implement mitigating actions, and subsequently linking them into industry benchmarks.
  • Provide support to region by serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) & assisting locations with inspections, communications and other interactions with regulatory agencies.
  • Represent external business interests & positions through technical organisations, organisational networking and building relationships with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Escalate HSE incidents and corrective actions in a timely, thorough and effective manner. 
  • Lead serious HSE investigations and those, which are environmental in nature.
  • Drive certifications to any relevant ISO systems i.e. ISO 14000, 50001, 45001.

Qualifications and skills

Must have

  • 5+ years’ experience in Health, Safety and Environment leadership roles.
  • Degree in H&S, Environment or Engineering.
  • Leadership and management experience within matrix, multi-site and multi-cultural operations role.
  • Exceptional communications skills with experience of influencing and engaging effectively across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • NEBOSH Diploma/equivalent qualification i.e. NCRQ Diploma.
  • Membership of IOSH or other relevant professional body.
  • Formal environmental qualification i.e. IEMA/NEBOSH.
  • Leadership and management experience within matrix, multi-site and multi-cultural operations role.

Nice to have

  • Ideally food manufacturing experience or experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership and management experience within matrix, multi-site and multi-cultural operations role (regional level).
  • Experience in working for an organization that uses Lean manufacturing or a similar methodology.
