About the role


Work Location: Murarrie, Brisbane - Australia 

Reporting To: R&D Director, SSD (Soups, Sauces & Dressings)

Key responsibilities


•Product development from initiation to launch, conferring with senior staff where appropriate
•Interact with sales &, marketing teams, customers, raw material and packaging suppliers, manufacturing, process engineers and flavour experts etc. to resolve any issues 
•Ensure appropriate documentation of experimental trials and outcomes to facilitate scale-up and product transfer to manufacturing
•Conduct research in changes to existing products and the development of new products and outlining procedures and specifications
•Ensure that ingredient flavour and functionality in final products fits the purpose of the customer
•Understand ambient stable recipe design and thermal processing requirements for Culinary Wet Products, related to safety and stability of these products during shelf life
•Work on Profit Improvement Project (PIP) opportunities for both Raw Material and Finished products
•Ensure applications are acceptable in the local or regional markets where sales are expected from a regulatory perspective, including any special criteria such as organic, allergen and GM
•Ensure that good laboratory practices and lab protocols are met, and maintain appropriate databases
•Maintain laboratory, including upkeep of equipment and general cleaning of work areas, and actively participates in quality improvement for the function
•Attend trade shows, conferences, scientific meetings and short courses as necessary, making credible presentations to educate customers, students and industry contacts.

Qualifications and skills


•Degree in Food Technology, Food Science or Applied Science with at least 3 - 5 years’ experience in Wet Culinary raw materials, formulation, processing, and packing
•Resilient, confident, able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
