Key responsibilities

 

Location: Murarrie, Brisbane

 

Reporting to: R&D Manager - Meat EUM (End Use Market)

 

•Lead development from end-to-end on customer projects that will be produced in Murarrie, Brisbane
•To support the development of innovative & technically sound food ingredient systems, with emphasis on:
   Coating systems across poultry, meat and non-meat applications
   Functional meat ingredients for poultry, meat and non-meat applications, such as cured products, meat brines and tumble marinades, functional phosphate blends, sausage premixes, shelf-life extenders & yield improvers
   Meat flavouring systems and seasonings
•Use sound commercial and technical awareness of ingredients, processes and customer requirements to deliver `right first time’
•Develop innovative solutions to help grow customer and Kerry’s market within cost parameters, manufacturing capability whilst ensuring all new products are legal within country of use
•Manage Pilot Plant validation work and facilitate first production trials of new recipes internally and with customers
•Create value added products with a point of difference from our competitors continuing to lead in the market through manufacture process and ingredient knowledge
•Build strong relationships with customer contacts within key accounts via visits, presentations and supporting trials in customer factory when required
•Work closely with business development to understand customer requirements
•Maintain awareness of developments across Kerry, building these into new developments, providing USPs for customers
•Carry out competitor & product awareness analysis – including sensory product evaluations and carrying out own retail reviews as required typically in conjunction with business development
•Actively utilise, review and expand Kerry collection products in line with business requirements

 

Key Deliverables:

 

•You will need to work well with a cross-functional team and build strong relationships with customers, providing excellent service in terms of concept development, sample delivery, product presentations and process support
•Work closely with business development and Meat EUM technologists to develop an understanding of the market and customer needs to develop market suitable product concepts within specific parameters identified by the customer
•Ensure that products developed are cost competitive and commercially viable
•Combine food values and science to create products aligned with Taste and Nutrition market positioning

Qualifications and skills

 

•Bachelor’s or higher degree in Food Science or related field, with at least 5-7 years’ (or more) experience in product research and development in food ingredients industries or related field; experience in ingredients for meat, coatings and marinades is an advantage
•Previous experience within the meat industry, particularly in the coatings field and processed/manufactured meat production and ingredients. Other meat technologies such as reformed and emulsified meats, cured and fermented meats, sausages, burgers, hams, wet marinades, brines, dry glaze is preferred
•Proven experience in formulation, recipe development, applications in meat and processor equipment understanding
•Strong team player, interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills with a commitment to fulfilling customer needs
•Ability to meet deadlines, self-managed and ability to handle multiple tasks with speed and accuracy, independently or as part of a team
