Vice President of Strategic Marketing

The Vice President of Strategic Marketing will lead and direct the N.America Marketing function and drive the development and execution of marketing strategies aligned with our Regional commercial goals and objectives. The role is responsible for managing all N.America marketing teams and driving the development and evolution of the Regional Marketing capability.

 

The Vice President of Strategic Marketing be actively involved in operationalizing our Taste & Nutrition Transformation to drive our Regional business growth strategies, with an emphasis on driving initiatives to execution.  Of primary responsibility will be facilitating the development of strategy planning across the business including commercial, technical, platform development, and growth enabling initiatives.  Through a deep understanding of the business and industry, act as liaison to the leadership team in the development of strategic and integrated plans, concepts & proposals, the presentation of ideas, the oversight of execution of tactical plans & programs and, with the support of cross-functional stakeholders, ensure high impact to the business.  In addition, the Vice President is responsible for advancing specific global and regional strategic projects.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Lead the Marketing Function for N.America

  • Lead and direct the N.America Marketing function across the Business to deliver against agreed Regional marketing goals and objectives- Own and manage strategic marketing, insights, marketing communications, digital/eComm and foodservice channel/ brand marketing, for capability and functional excellence
  • Drive the development of a high performing, strategic marketing team, fully integrated into our End Use Market/Channel/Geographical Business teams - Support the development of all marketing teams and team members through coaching, feedback, and ongoing development initiatives
  • Own and manage resource optimization and allocation aligned to Channel/EUM strategies.  Accountability for regional marketing function Cost/OH Budget
  • Be a strong change agent with energy, passion & enthusiasm to strengthen teams, structure, and culture and advance the position and impact of marketing among business leaders

Commercial Strategy & Execution

  • Drive and support cross-function collaboration between the marketing, general management, commercial and Business development teams to advance our Taste & Nutrition Strategy across our End Use Markets/Channels/Geographies
  • Accountable for the regional development of “Where to play”, growth strategies with aligned “How to win” commercial strategies through Kerry’s EUM execution operating model in partnership with Regional EUM Business Leads
  • Support Regional CEO in Go-to-Market Commercial design and alignment
  • Lead and manage regional growth planning in partnership with Global Strategy Function.
  • Collaborate on M&A strategy with market assessment, business rationale and integration plan

Market & Consumer Insights

  • Accountable for the delivery of compelling market and consumer insights that drive and support strategic commercial decisions
  • Partner with Innovation/R&D leadership to inject market and competitive intelligence into the development of the Innovation funnel
  • Accountable for the regional competitive intelligence process to stay well-informed of changes in competitive landscape and to enable design differentiated strategies and positioning
  • Accountable for the regional  marketing analytics combining external information Euromonitor, Global Data, Nielsen) and internal information SFDC, EPM,  central analysis, etc. to develop  data driven marketing WOW

Brand Strategy & Management

  • Manage and govern Kerry T&N brand  and brand portfolio aligned to global brands - positioning, standards and guidelines. Execute digital brand strategies to generate demand aligned to business strategies

Customer Experience/ Engagement

  • Lead execution of differentiated Best-in-Class Customer experience/engagement
  • Partner with Sales/Commercial Execs and build marketing-to-marketing customer intimacy
  • Lead and develop external market presence  marketing to marketing customer relationships

Digital

  • Accountable for the development and execution of digitally led integrated marketing plans to generate demand aligned to business strategy
  • Drive digital analytics to validate effectiveness and enable continuous improvement
  • Accountable to activate with sales teams digital lead generation and digital market leadership

Partner with the Region CEO/Senior Leadership Team on Strategy Development and Execution

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Regional CEO, Business Presidents and other Senior Regional Leadership
  • Facilitate and influence the planning & strategy development process across all parts of the N.America Business
  • Build and embed strategic planning capability and skill set across the business
  • Partner cross-functionally with leaders of multiple businesses to advance our Taste & Nutrition strategy
  • Act as thought partner with senior leadership across N. America as required to support the development of execution plans against key initiatives, resulting in clear and actionable plans with agreed ownership and accountability
  • Lead activities around shaping specific strategic business opportunities into growth platforms
  • Regional lead for North America digital strategies
  • Direct the planning & development of key regional/global executive presentations, strategy updates, plans and initiatives
  • Gain in-depth understanding of Kerry’s business, the market and competitive landscape
  • Keep current on industry trends, news and market shaping events
  • Ensure all plans and initiatives are aligned with high level strategic goals of the business
  • Be a strong advocate and leader of change, with energy, passion & enthusiasm for growth
  • Inject and advance strategic thinking and planning across the organization and into the culture as a mindset and a skillset
  • Continually communicate the progress against our strategy to multiple stakeholders including business Presidents, CEO, and Board of Directors.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.  MBA preferred
  • 15+ years progressively responsible, post baccalaureate experience in a related capacity or food industry role
  • Experience in a highly advanced marketing led organization
  • Experience in a strategy planning role, focused on influencing organizations and people
  • Experience working in a top tier strategy consulting organization a plus
  • Proven project leadership skills in highly matrixed organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate long term strategies for growth
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written)
