Technical Service Manager - Meats & Smoke

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Business Development Manager with hands-on experience in meat processing to join our North America team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of meat products and thermal processing, and a proven track record of driving sales and customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise: Utilize hands-on knowledge and work experience in meat processing plants, specifically with products such as sausages, emulsified products, bacon, hams, and restructured products.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, yield, and sustainability.
  • Customer Engagement: Work independently and travel as needed to visit customers, identify their needs, and provide tailored solutions.
  • Training and Support: Collaborate with our equipment team to help start up and train operators, and conduct customer plant trials to demonstrate product and equipment functionality.
  • Presentations: Deliver high-level briefings to executive management at key accounts and present technical information to operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on Meat Science and Food Science, particularly in Smoke Technology, Smoke Application Methods, and Thermal Processing Techniques.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accelerate Smoke and Grill Sales within your region using your technical expertise, leadership, and relationship skills.
  • Collaborate with Technical Team Members to identify Best Practices.
  • Develop effective methods to maintain connectivity with customers.
  • Build and maintain rapport with key customers across your region.
  • Identify customer variances and provide rationale.
  • Plan and conduct meaningful presentations targeting specific subject matter to key customers.
  • Evaluate where smoke application equipment can improve customer yields, throughput rates, and product quality.
  • Track and report weekly to the Business Development Manager on customer communications and discussed topics.
  • Evaluate cost in use and help identify savings.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS in Meat Science, Food Science, or a related biological science field; MS or PhD preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in meat manufacturing or technical sales with an emphasis on food and meat ingredients.
  • Self-starter with the ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel domestically 60-70%.
  • Ability to work varied hours and shifts to be present during production.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.

 

Base Salary Transparency

The typical hiring range for this role is $120,838 to $186,637 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc.  In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
