About the role

It is preferred that the Technical Business Development Manager be located close to our Kerry Center in Beloit, headquarters for North America. However, This role has the opportunity to be remote (home based) determined by experience and the understanding there may be additional travel.  We are a leader in taste and nutrition for the global food, beverage and pharmaceutical industry.  We have approximately 700 employees at our Beloit location in roles such as regulatory, RD&A, finance, procurement, supply chain and customer care. This Beloit Site is commutable from major cities such as Milwaukee, Madison & Chicago, accessible right off of the freeway.. This site includes employee perks such as an onsite work out facility, cafe, and beautifully landscaped walking trails to get you outside and give you a break from the office walls!

 

The Technical Business Development Manager will be focused on the Direct-to-Retail (DTR) channel with primary focus on the Hot Deli segment. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving growth in these areas for North American market by having a deep level of understanding of market trends, Kerry’s capabilities, the expertise to identify profitable opportunities and the ability to lead execution accordingly.  This position will collaborate with Global counterparts within the DTR business.

Key responsibilities

Become the expert and demonstrate a thorough understanding of Kerry’s R&D expertise, technologies and manufacturing capabilities as it relates to the Meat Systems, Kettle, Taste business, and strategic growth initiatives. Demonstrate a deep understanding of market trends and consumer demandLead the development, in conjunction with R&D, of the innovation pipeline for your areas of responsibility

  • Leverage market knowledge and Kerry’s capabilities to build customer centric strategies in conjunction with marketing and sales, to deliver profitable growth for Kerry
  • Actively engage in all strategic customer activities & develop and maintain deep customer relationships (specific to Safeway, Albertson, ALDI and key Direct-to-Retail focus customers)
  • Provide technical knowledge and input, in conjunction with R&D, to the sales team and customers
  • Lead the DTR business to develop strong market based innovation and commercial pipeline of growth
  • Responsible for the approval and progression of commercial projects and opportunities
  • Continually and pro-actively partner across functions to ensure project advancement and the development of market leading solutions for our customers
  • Remain connected to academic, research, conferences, and learning opportunities to increase knowledge.  
  • Become the internal ambassador for your technologies and provide continual education to internal stakeholders
Qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree required – Prefer focus in Food Science / Meat Science or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience with a background including Sales / Food Ingrediants and R&D knowledge
  • Background in Meat / Deli – selling  into the retail grocery channel
  • Experience in CPG or food ingredient industry with established customer relationships
  • Deep technical knowledge and experience of driving success in NPD and/or innovation
  • Strong business and commercial acumen
  • Technical and data driven approach to business and a demonstrated ability to formulate technical strategies and drive actionable plans and results
  • Leadership and management skills with a demonstrated ability to connect with various levels of stakeholders and influence across all levels of an organization
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes
