About the role

Reporting to the V-P of Operations, this person will lead all supply chain management processes and activities for Pharma across the different supply sites to the benefit of external and internal customers and supply chain operations.

Key responsibilities

The role will also ensure that the following activities are planned, organized and controlled to meet agreed targets and KPI’s set, from receipt of order through to dispatch to customer at lowest total cost, including:

  • Understand and execute supply chain vision and plan
  • Part of the S&OP solution and process
  • Work with team members to increase supply chain knowledge
  • Proactively facilitate and recommended re-engineering, best practices & consensus between functional areas and business units
  • Manage performance expectations with contract manufacturing, suppliers
  • Develop, execute and manage an integrated and measurable supply chain strategy
  • Mentor and develop people
  • Single point of contact for other departments or locations
  • Manage the tactically part of the department while the Director’s manage the strategic
  • The breadth of the role will develop as the supply chain and production strategies evolve

  • Warehouse Supervisor
  • Planners for demand and supply incumbent
  • Materials Managers

Specific Areas of Responsibility

  • Ensure production planning is aligned to meet demand
  • Reduce out OOS and excess inventory thus reducing costs
  • Achieve inventory, cost targets and system objectives
  • Working with plant to reduce capital and carrying costs and reduce OOS
  • Develop and implement logistic cost savings by analyzing supply, demand and tracking spend
  • Develop and continuously improve S&OP process
  • Develop continuous improvement processes, modify existing procedures, minimizing costs, increasing accuracy, and improving customer service
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce costs and create action plans to take advantage
  • Focus on improving tactical activity and strategic growth

Qualifications and skills

  • Relevant degree and supply chain qualification or working towards qualification.
  • 10-15 years’ experience in Pharma Supply Chain
  • Master’s degree in supply chain related field. MBA preferred
  • Have managed a department or team
  • Good experience in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access and ERP systems
  • SAP experience is essential

Evidence of:

  • Supply chain management (including “tactical” planning) experience within food manufacturing and pharma
  •  Experience managing process and people improvement
  •  Establishing/demonstrating/reviewing KPI’s to meet operational needs through effective collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of information.
  •  Focus on critical areas of performance
  •  Service to other food manufacturers/processors
  •  Budgetary control of a $200 million or greater
  •  Use of integrated manufacturing software solutions to control production (e.g. SCADA; warehouse stock control systems –RSM)
  •  High level of numeracy and ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets and access information on IT systems
  • Understanding of best practices in the supply chain and either a professional supply chain qualification or working towards obtaining it (i.e. APICS certification)
