What will you do?

Main Objective
The Thermal Process Authority will be focused on ensuring the safety and quality of aseptic, retort, acidified and low-acid foods. Partner with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing in the North America region on new product launches, process reviews, deviation evaluations, and support factory-level competency. Lead external research supporting processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and quality of products by completing process reviews and issuing process letters for aseptic, retort, acidified, low acid and formulation controlled products.
  • Serve as FDA ECP (Establishment Contact Person). Oversee Kerry process filings and FDA inquiries working with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage process deviation analysis, recommend product disposition and ensure continuous improvement to product safety.
  • Drive knowledge transfer to factories through technical assistance and proactive development of thermal processing standards and training to build factory-level competency.
  • Coordinate temperature distributions, aseptic process line validations, and microbiological challenge studies working with third parties to support products and processes.
  • Be proactive and responsive in addressing customer questions and technical investigations. Support internal requests for technical assistance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and quality standards. Support maintenance and improvements to thermal processing standards, capturing and communicating industry best practices. Participate in external thermal processing networks representing Kerry.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Thermal Process Authority in the food industry.  
  • Strong technical knowledge of thermally processing low acid and acidified food.
  • Proven ability to design experiments, execute projects, and analyze data.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration.
  • Capable of working independently and being autonomous.
  • Availability to travel 10% to visit corporate headquarters and sites.

Compensation Data

The typical hiring range for this role is $91,404 to $138,358 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements)
