About the role

The ideal candidate in this role will be accountable for the following items:

  • Accelerating our vision towards creating a world of sustainable nutrition by incorporating all nutrition and sustainability goals as part of the global business strategy, in alignment with the Global Beyond the Horizon programme.
  • Develop and activate a AH&N Global Sustainability Strategy, partnering with and leveraging the Global Sustainability function and other relevant Global Sustainability Region Leads & Councils. Working with regional end-use-market leaders, marketers, commercial leaders, integrated operations and other cross-functional teams.
  • Guide AH&N Technology Pillars in performance managing versus annual plans and KPIs, successfully reaching Kerry’s 2030 Beyond the Horizon sustainable nutrition goals across all the key pillars of Better for People, Better for Society and Better for the Planet.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Global AH&N annual Sustainability goals in line with the Global Beyond the Horizon commitments
  • Lead the Global AH&N Sustainability Council to ensure adoption, implementation and performance management within each Technology Pillar & Region.
  • Regularly engage and train the AH&N Technology Pillar & functional teams on trends, regulations, competitor activity and market activity involving Sustainability, ensuring each pillar is well positioned for growth
  • Partner with the Global Climate Council and Operations and Engineering to review significant projects or process changes to incorporate Sustainability measures
  • Advise the Technology Marketing teams on messaging and tactics to communicate the Beyond the Horizon programme externally
  • Partner with the Global Sustainable Portfolio Council and align the AH&N approach to the global Lifecycle Analysis or Carbon Foot Printing approach
  • Participate in global strategic planning, ensuring the End-Use-Market value propositions appropriately embed Sustainability to offer differentiation versus competitors where appropriate
  • Based on strategic planning priorities for the region, partner with the Global Commercial Council and regional Marketing and R&D to develop Sustainability-positioned product portfolios and build market-appropriate value propositions
  • Partner with the Global Commercial Council and EUM Commercial teams to embed Sustainability in account plans, coach and support commercial leaders in engaging customers in sustainability and support marketing to develop customer-specific value propositions and plans for activation
  • Develop and embed the Sustainable Nutrition agenda and bring to life for all functions within AH&N
  • Lead the AH&N Social Sustainability agenda in partnership with the Global Social Council, Global Corporate Affairs & Communications and Human Resources, global IDB steering group and MyCommunity champions
  • Lead customer conversations with like-peer groups, using subject matter expertise in Sustainability to open commercial opportunities 
  • Measure and monitor progress against environmental Sustainability strategies, objectives and performance targets in all Technology Pillars & functions across AH&N
  • Partner with CFO to tag, track and reporting on Sustainability impact to the AH&N global opportunity pipeline.

Qualifications and skills

  • BA/BS Degree required. Accredited in Business, Environmental, Sustainability, or Ecology preferred
  • Master’s degree in related field of study, a plus
  • Experienced professional with high business acumen from the Food & Beverage, Supplements, or Pharmaceutical industries preferred with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Sustainability/Environmental/Ecology
  • Ability to influence, motivate and collaborate across multiple levels and functions within the organization
  • Strong skills in leadership, change management, communication, project management and relationship building – must be able to build teams locally and collaborate regionally on larger projects
  • Logical mind-set to define problems and generate rational solutions. Ability to make decisions quickly, identifying metrics, milestones, resources and timelines
  • Prioritise complex range of tasks and delegate appropriately. Focus on doing the right things in the right way. Anticipate issues and actively seek information
  • High ability to manage change effectively, display initiative and follow through on development of ideas, embraces new ideas and approaches
  • Demonstrates the energy, flexibility and adaptability to be successful in a dynamic fast paced environment, navigating the Business towards agreed outcomes
  • Global supply chain management experience, a plus
  • Location based in North America (Beloit) or Ireland (Naas) preferred.  Previous international experience is preferred
  • Ability to travel, domestically and internationally, 25-30% annually
