About the role

To future proof Kerry manufacturing sites, the Global Engineering function has been tasked to define the automation strategy for the company and therefore, we are now recruiting for a Global Automation Lead.  The primary function of the role is to create robust machine design concepts that address all aspects of safety, quality, efficiency and costs for the various automation opportunities within the organization. Next to setting the standards there is a key responsibility to support the envelope of automation projects from concept design to final acceptance by the factory asset management team.

We are looking for an empowered global leader to drive the automation program through a team of regional technology experts.

What will I be accountable for?

  • Developing the Global Automation Strategy in line with the Global Engineering Strategy that supports the current and future technology landscape.
  • Driving the successful development, deployment and embedding of the Global Automation Strategy in conjunction with the relevant functions like Engineering, Manufacturing and SHE.
  • Creating and own a catalogue of global standardized ‘fit for purpose’ machine designs which will enable local teams to address automation challenges.
  • Managing all aspects of Safety, Security, Quality, Service, Cost and Sustainability as they relate to the Automation infrastructure.
  • Actively seeking improvements to the legacy infrastructure to identify risks and obsolescence and develop suitable solutions that can be executed at a regional/local level.
  • Defining advanced technology and robotization solutions that can be designed and installed across Kerry manufacturing assets to drive efficiency and competitive advantage.
  • Building a clear communication and engagement plan to lead the change across the global regions and within plants, in terms of automation & digital operations.
  • Leading out plant prioritization and ownership of our capital planning for Automation solutions, empowered by agreed sign-off parameters globally and aligned to local budget and prioritized plant needs.

What will I be doing?

  • Developing a detailed understanding of the Global Manufacturing Strategy, to ensure alignment of digital capability and production requirements.
  • Input into Manufacturing footprint decisions, highlighting digital opportunities and risks at the plant level.
  • Collaborating with vendors, regional counterparts, project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to understand the requirements and scope of the robotics project.
  • Assisting with cost estimates and project calculations. Work with the various project teams to specify and acquire quotes for the various elements of the design (mechanical, electrical, electronical, digital etc.)
  • Support the overall FMEA design analysis as required to ensure the machine design will meet all project requirements. Support the manufacturing, assembly and commissioning processes for the project as required.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting services for robotic systems. Support the punch list item creation and closure to ensure the machine assembly and debug phases of the project are completed on schedule.
  • Oversee the creation of complete, organized, detailed as-build packages and coordinate the training and acceptance tests.
  • Ensuring the required training & development plans are available to ensure sustainable deployment and delivery of all Automation solutions being implemented in plant.

What do I need to bring?

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a field relevant to Automation.
  • Significant automation design experience gained within a systems integrator or project management environment.
  • You’ll be a trusted automation expert.
  • Senior stakeholder management experience within a complex global matrix-based organization.
  • Impact and Influencing skills combined with calm assertiveness.
  • Change leadership capability.
  • Problem solving, prevention & decisive evidenced based decision-making.
  • Strategic planning, execution & compliance.
  • As our global business language, the candidate must be fluent in English, both verbal and in writing.  Global experience is highly desirable.
