About the role

Kerry Taste & Nutrition is actively seeking a Manager of Logistics Procurement to join our team. This role can be virtual and sit anywhere in the continental U.S. with apx. 25-30% travel, as needed.

 

This position will have accountability for $100MM/year + of spend. Reporting to the Logistics Procurement Director, the Manager actively participates in the strategic sourcing activities for the America’s Region, with the goal of achieving significant initial cost reductions, while maintaining/improving product quality and vendor service levels. This position leads execution of regional strategies and is accountable for implementation of cost optimization initiatives (PIPs).This position will have accountability for $50MM/year + of spend. Reporting to the Logistics Procurement Director, the Manager actively participates in the strategic sourcing activities for the America’s Region, with the goal of achieving significant initial cost reductions, while maintaining/improving product quality and vendor service levels. This position leads execution of regional strategies and is accountable for implementation of cost optimization initiatives (PIPs).

Key responsibilities

  • Leads category sourcing activities for TL, LTL, parcel and/or other modes of transportation for the region.
  • Supports category sourcing activities in the Americas Region for other aspects of logistics as needed.
  • Reviews requirements from internal and external customers to determine key supplier characteristics.
  • Analyzes market conditions to determine present and future pricing and supply, prepares market summary for finance and business units.
  • Monitors procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements.
  • Selects vendors, negotiates pricing and supports continuous improvement and corrective action initiatives.
  • Leads quarterly business reviews for key suppliers.
  • Directly solves operational issues with vendors and manages supplier performance feedback.
  • Reviews and resolves vendor claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better overall price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
  • Monitors and refines scorecard process with supply chain team.
  • Negotiates complex requests for materials and services.
  • Works day-to-day with the other functions in the region on implementation of category sourcing initiatives.
  • Develops sourcing and implementation strategy consistent with Kerry quality, service and financial goals.
  • Maintains pricing in TMS, SAP and other information systems to support load tendering process and financial analysis.
  • Prepares and issues purchasing contracts.
  • Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
  • Develops and utilizes a system to evaluate vendor quotations with the appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.

Qualifications and skills

  • A minimum of 5 years procurement experience is required.
  • Experience with transportation and related category management is preferred. Basic understanding of transportation and logistics required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • MBA or MS degrees are desirable.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Project Management Experience.
  • Strong communication skills and initiative; successful candidate will work with Kerry co-workers in multiple functions and locations as well as outside vendors.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Must be able to do advanced analysis using Excel and information from multiple data sources from day one.
  • Able to work in a dual reporting matrix and in virtual teams.
  • Able to get buy-in and commitment from stakeholders.
  • Successful, multi-year track record within a manufacturing industry in a procurement, supply chain, or related field.
