About the role

Work Location: Bangalore, India
Reporting To: Head Regulatory Affairs- IS & MENAT

In this role, you be an individual contributor responsible for supporting technical regulatory affairs tasks within Kerry and externally. Concurrently you will work with Sr. Manager RA to ensure all Kerry Products are compliant for sale within MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.

Key responsibilities

  • Support timely registration on new products/SKUs in respective markets by working closely and lesioning with the relevant competent authorities.
  • Support clearance of import/export consignments by working closely with customs and relevant authorities.
  • Maintenance and implementation of the Regulatory management system (Optiva, MDM and etc).
  • Monitor potential changes in regulations and pro‐actively liaise with relevant regional RD&A representatives and/or local competent authorities to minimize any impact to the business.
  • Ensure continuous regulatory intelligence and knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Analysis and impact assessment of upcoming changes to existing regulations, partnering with the supply chain, and advising on impact to supply chain and distribution processes.
  • Support New Product Development through participation at product brief and artwork development stages. Providing expertise and direction on product classification and product claims during the NPD Process.
  • Liaison & communication with Corporate Legal and Finance team on strategic and operational regulatory issues

 

 

 

Support in Product development, Compliance check and Commercialization:

Reviewing recipes in line with target country and end use market requirement.
Checking quantity of Ingredients and allowed limit of additives in all target countries.
Check raw material suitability for target markets by coordinating with RM and Quality team.
Carry out compliance check basis the category standards of domestic and international markets and classify the product under appropriate category.
Creating the specification and other relevant documents.
Moving recipes to 500 Status & MDG Workflow approval.

 

 

 

Artwork Approval:

  • Reviewing Labels – mandatory content, Claims etc.
  • English to Arabic translation. Proof reading of label content. (Nice to have).
  • Preparing Ingredient list for labels in line with country specific regulations to provide relevant information to customer.
  • Maintain recipe secrecy and Kerry IP.

 

 

 

Attending SFDC requests:

  • Share documents through SFDC - compliance confirmation of existing products, MSDS, Product Specification, % Banding, Customer Questioner etc.

 

 

 

Address general requests/queries:

  • Support import clearance with technical documents, labelling and justification of food category.
  • Supporting Sales and Commercial team in addressing customer queries, regarding product categorization and suitability of Kerry products etc.
  • Import, Export and HS code related queries.
  • Helping sales team to connect with other regional regulatory to expedite the process.

 

 

 

Product Extension from another region to MENAT:

  • Collecting compliance information.
  • Checking the product suitability as per local regulations and categorizing accordingly.
  • Lesioning with other region regulatory to expedite the process.

Qualifications and skills

  • Preferably a bachelor’s degree in food science or similar field, with minimum 3 years’ experience in a Regulatory role in a Food industry. 
  • Experience of working with the government (Middle East Food Authorities).
  • Expert observation, analysis, and judgement (i.e., analytical, and objective mind-set).
  • Strong background in Food Science & Regulatory standards in Middle East.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams within the organization at all levels.
  • Ability to speak and write in Arabic would be an added advantage (nice to have).
