About the role

The Production Manager of Kerry's Otahuhu site will manage production activities to ensure timely delivery of finished product to customers while maintaining and continuously driving improvement in efficiency, quality, safety, environmental and cost targets.

Key responsibilities
  • Ensure Operational Health and Safety
  • Direct responsibility for all operational colleagues
  • Weekly capacity evaluation for each resource to define manpower and shift requirements for the oncoming week
  • Leading production team to achieve production targets in a safe and efficient manner 
  • Monitor COOISPI and TR cockpits in SAP 
  • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns 
  • Manage engineering / maintenance projects
  • Monitor raw material availability after Quality Assurance clearances 
  • Daily measurement, review and management of cost drivers 
  • Investigate stock variances and implement corrective measures 
  • Monitor the efficiency of lines as per OEE methodology, working out the loss elimination through analysis and review with Production team 
  • Implement Continuous improvement tools of problem solving for boosting Efficiency, Productivity and waste reduction 
  • Establish strong quality and food safety systems 
  • Manage Cleaning Programs for the Production Facility, Surrounds, Equipment and the Warehouse 
  • Ensure strict adherence to company practices on recycling and sustainability 
  • Recruitment, performance reviews, training, corrective action, team development, time keeping & disciplinary proceedings of team members 
  • Maintain an engaged and team-oriented team to meet business demands 
Qualifications and skills
  • Degree in Food Science/Technology or related discipline 
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in leadership capacity in the food manufacturing industry
  • Working knowledge of food laws – must have prior relevant experience in the food industry 
  • Understanding of product certification programs such as Kosher, Halal and Organic
  • Understanding policies related to international products 
  • Understanding of best practice
  • Understands aspects of TQM i.e. that quality goes beyond the product itself 
  • Knowledge of FSSC 22K, HACCP, SPC and AIB product safety systems 
  • Understands and champions GMP and GLP requirements 
  • Strong Allergen awareness 
  • Knowledge of food and facility security requirements 
  • Knows how to set up and execute compliance systems 
  • Knowledge of developing standard operating procedures
