About the role

The primary focus of the Materials Planner is to ensure uninterrupted flow of materials required to support manufacturing & customer requirements.
Work Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Reporting To: Supply Chain Manager, NZ

Key responsibilities

  • Create and assign purchase orders for 3rd Party vendor.
  • Create and assign STO’s for intercompany transaction.
  • Identify raw material shortages and take necessary action to expedite supply.
  • Liaise with Suppliers, Procurement, R&D, other supply chain team members to minimise schedule disruption due to raw materials issues.
  • Provide freight quotes to commercial team as requested.
  • Accurately maintain in house freight schedule and pallet database.
  • Ensure accurate documentation from suppliers and forwarders.
  • Submit relevant documents to MPI for authentication.
  • Maintain good relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders to support business activity.
  • Manage surplus inventory exposure.
  • Manage aged stock exposure.
  • Periodically review master data to ensure system data integrity.

Qualifications and skills

  • Degree level qualification in Supply Chain, Business / Commercial discipline.
  • Strong experience in planning roles in the Supply Chain function.
  • Good working knowledge of ERP, MRP II and MS Office application skills. Experience in SAP PP module and APO is highly advantageous.
  • Advanced MS Office and systems skills.
  • Strong planning and analytical skills and ability to take complex issues and break down actions for resolutions.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • A solid communicator who can build strong relations and is not afraid to challenge decisions when see better alternatives or potential pitfalls.
  • Possess business acumen with deep operational insight as well as an open nature and collaborative mind-set that enable working cohesively with people from different functions and levels.
  • A motivated and driven individual with the core competencies required to succeed in a demanding and challenging working environment.
  • Good problem solving and decision-making ability to enhance workflow efficiencies and effectiveness.
