R&D Lead

Our R&D team really have their ear to the ground for all the latest food trends. Key responsibilities

  • To work closely with the Head of R&D, Culinary Chefs & Customer Teams to determine customer orientated and commercially viable NPD activity in response to customer briefs and innovation.
  • Accountable alongside the Head of R&D for communicating customer strategy and activation plans: detailing clear cost targets, promotional mechanics, quality tiering and operational efficiency.
  • Analyse market place for comparable product and provide benchmark quality tiering detail (£, weight, meat % etc)
  • Feedback insights from customers and Kerry customer team to enable propositions to reflect both the consumer and customer needs.
  • Be involved in idea generation, idea card completion and Innovation Days.
  • Be aware of the key business strategies coming from Joint Business Plan (s), Customer Meetings, CDT’S and Innovation Platforms Big Bets. Ensure NPD activity is aligned to realising these opportunities.
  • Communicate and manage all critical paths progress with the cross functional team ensuring regular progress updates.
  • Alongside Chef ensure that Npd are actively liaising with the cross functional team to discuss all new products, raw materials, processing and packaging to iron out issues at the front end of the development process. .
  • Be able to contribute to some and lead other presentations which have a logical flow, illustrating a sound understanding of recipes, commercial, benchmarks and customer and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Build relationships with Retailers and ensure customer care and adherence to the Kerry Vision and Values  “to be loved for making the best food in the fridge… with a better understanding of our customers”
  • Support the category team in the planning and execution of range reviews. Identify key account/ product opportunities and determine launch strategy
  • Using the Innovation Platforms communicate forward looking plans that gives the Business visibility of and confidence in the fact that the opportunities are being maximised.
  • Support the development of the team including seeking and actioning feedback from customers and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications and skills

•             Degree  - Food , Marketing, Business or equivalent higher education qualification

•             Project Management

•             Computer Literate in Excel, Word and Powerpoint

•             Excellent communicator

•             Highly organised Multi tasker

•             Enthusiastic Team Player

•             Attention to Detail

•             Previous experience in the Food Industry preferred but not essential
