About the role

Working as part of the NPI Process Development Department to ensure the successful launch of simply brilliant food in line with critical paths.  To ensure the compliance of all products launched to quality, safety, legal and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Working closely with the development, production and supply chain teams to launch products which work within the factory and are delivered to critical paths
  • Working closely with designated customer product managers to maintain good working relationships, manage and meet expectations and to provide best in class service
  • Management and reporting of factory trials, pre-production trials and assistance during launches, ensuring satisfactory handover to Production.
  • Completion and maintenance of factory specifications and other requisite customer documentation including quality standards.
  • Assisting Specifications Technologist in completion and maintenance of Right First Time customer specifications using specific web based specification systems.
  • Generation and approval of artwork and packaging ensuring legal, customer and factory requirements are met.
  • Identification of process/profit improvement projects.
  • Challenging existing practices, processes and equipment to enhance quality and efficiencies and move the business forward.  Visiting suppliers and other sites to understand capabilities and opportunities.
  • Member of the HACCP team, providing insight into products and processes.
  • Management of microbiological and analytical testing for all new and improved products.
  • Checking all new raw material and packaging specifications for requisite information and signing off.
  • Maintenance of product files.
  • Deputise for NPI Lead.

Qualifications and skills






Food related qualification.




Proven track record in FMCG.

High degree of literacy and numeracy.

Computer literate.

NPD or Process Development experience.

Chilled ready meal/prepared meals experience.

Understanding of retailer web based specifications systems.

Legal labelling or equivalent training.



Effective communicator.

Excellent time management.

Attention to detail.

Passionate and proud.

Drive and determination.

Motivated to work under own initiative.

Willingness to travel.

Flexible and adaptable.

Good relationship building.
