About the role

Located in Albany, MN, this role oversees the corporation policies and manages Environmental, Health and Safety matters at the Albany, MN site. Responsible for compliance in the environmental, health and safety areas for Albany, MN manufacturing site. The EHS Manager will report directly to the Director of  Manufacturing in Albany, MN site.

 

What would you do?

Environmental (50% of workload)

  • Oversee the Environmental Management System, record-keeping and monitoring requirements. Verify and enforce plant level data entry and on-time completion of all tasks
  • Manage all Title V and State air permits (renewals, modifications, administration, compliance, stack testing, reporting) Provide air compliance training for key plant personnel who oversee permitted operations and pollution control equipment
  • Review all MSDS of the facilities and obtain necessary regulatory approvals
  • Monitor all areas of possible water contamination (i.e., chemical storage, pit areas, storm run-off and sewer drains). Manage storm water pollution prevention plans & permit to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements including reporting requirements
  • Manage Wastewater Discharge Permit and the associated requirements.
  • Prepare Environmental Reports SARA 312 & 313, Air Emissions Inventory, Semi-annual deviations, etc. 
  • Understand spill containment, notification, and remediation procedures in the event of a reportable release. 
  • Manage the SPCC Plan and the required documentation.
  • Manage the Hazardous and Universal Waste programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements including reporting requirements
  • Manage the DOT registration requirements for the plant. Provide training for key plant personnel involved in shipping or receiving DOT hazardous chemicals and maintain all training credentials and records
  • Plan and prepare for regulatory inspections and ensure environmental records and files are readily available

 

Health & Safety (50% of workload)

  • Review, evaluate and analyze work environments and procedures to help control, eliminate, and prevent injury caused by chemical, physical and ergonomic factors
  • Conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals as well as company Loss Control standards and procedures
  • Conduct safety training programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment (PPE, fall protection, air sampling, etc.)
  • Coordinate hazard communication program regarding MSDS maintenance, hazardous chemicals, and other substances
  • Participate in incident investigation to identify causal factors to determine how incidents might be prevented in the future
  • Assist in the maintenance and updating of emergency action plans and procedures.
  • Responsible for Safety Programs/Systems: LOTO, Confined Space, Elevated Working Surfaces/Fall Protection, PIV, Machine Guarding, Walking and Working Surfaces, Permit to Work, & Hazard Control, Process Safety Management (PMS).
  • Provide health and safety orientation and assist in the development of materials relating to these presentations
  • Assist in the tabulation of safety statistics and generate safety reports
  • Other duties as required and requested by Corporate.

 

What will you need to be successful?

Education & Experience

  • A four-year college degree in a technical field ( Environment, sciences, etc.) or business and administration field is required.
  • 5+  years of experience in EHS in a manufacturing setting is required. Experience in the food, wine, ethanol, fermentation, chemical manufacturing industries or equivalent is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations, and concepts including working knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements.
