About the role

Kerry is actively seeking a Project/Process Engineer to our Engineering team. This role will be remote in the St. Louis, Missouri area with the ability to travel as needed. The position will report to the Director of Engineering, or as assigned. The Engineer has the responsibility to support various projects ranging from plant process improvements, driving technical/technological innovation and execution of capital projects while keeping people safety, food safety and sustainability as top of mind priorities. This position will concurrently support multiple projects throughout the organization. Leads site process improvements and supports various projects in Capital improvement ranging $5k - $3MM.  This position requires strong knowledge in Food Process (preferably Fermentation), Project Management, and sanitary design for food manufacturing.  The Engineer will lead these projects through accurate project forecasting and budgets, equipment procurement, scheduling, integration, installation, start-up and successful project closure.  Personnel Safety and Food Safety design standards will lead priority in all projects.     

Key responsibilities

  • Manages process improvement and facility capital projects from a technical, financial and manpower perspective.
  • Directly participates in the design, development and creation of scope for engineering projects (process & infrastructure) or the engineering work of the department.
  • Experience with justifying, implementing and closing capital project ranging from $5k-$3MM.
  • Creates project estimates and timelines for initial project consideration.
  • Identifies and proposes equipment and/or processing options to meet objectives within projects.
  • Leads the bid process, budgeting and submission process for capital and operational projects.
  • Directs the installation, commissioning, qualification and verification for regional engineering capital projects.
  • Manages and coordinates the activities of teams and contractors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Creates and publishes schedules to prioritize the actions of project management
  • Leads project meetings for design and project reviews.
  • Communicate clearly, both written and verbally, with contractors, plant personnel, peers and management. 
  • Prioritizes and leads projects with an added value for the plant in line with methodological principles
  • Complete other assignments and initiatives as requested.

Qualifications and skills

  • Requires a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or similar engineering discipline.
  • Overall 10+ years experience in engineering.
  • 5+ years experience in identifying & implementing Process Improvements to increase capacity / efficiency.
  • 5+ years experience in Project Management with responsibility for projects exceeding $1MM.
  • Related experience in Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical, or biotech industries.
  • CAD Experience preferred and an intermediate level or better.
  • Experience with Microsoft programs (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
