About the role

The Research, Development & Application (RD&A) Sample Lead is primarily responsible for co-ordinating and contributing to all activities related to preparation of samples and supporting RD&A function. This role contributes to sampling reliability and is a key support to the Kerry RD&A team. Working hand in hand with our scientists and commercial teams by ensuring timely response on sampling, which directly impacts on project delivery and customer centricity.

In addition, this role will help maintain RD&A facility excellence, pilot plant equipment, stock control, shipping logistics and compliance to expected GMP’s, housekeeping, health and safety standards. 

The RD&A Sample Lead will report to our RD&A Site Lead – Lonsdale who is based out of Adelaide, South Australia.  

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing and prioritising sample requests in relevant systems.
  • Weighing, compounding/processing and sample making within a food ingredient/flavour manufacturing environment
  • Mixing recipes in accordance with preparation methods provided
  • Responsible for preparation of samples for evaluation, customer trials, product approval, market promotion and customer presentations
  • Labelling and packing samples
  • Ensure retain samples are collected and stored appropriately.
  • Responsible for pilot plant material preparation and support during trials
  • Goods receiving and dispatching for RD&A
  • Finished goods, raw material, packaging ordering and maintaining stock control
  • Collection and replenishment of raw materials from manufacturing plant
  • Maintain record documentation, including upkeep of equipment, and general cleaning of work areas. Actively participates in quality improvement
  • Support and follow Good Laboratory Practice manual expectations
  • Housekeeping of general sample work area, pilot-plant and sample room
  • Support and assist RD&A team, when needed

Qualifications and skills

  • Minimum Diploma in Food Science, Supply Chain or Technical field or any other related discipline
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role in food manufacturing environment
  • Candidate with 2-3 years supervisory skills is a must
  • Experience from a food & beverage manufacturing company with HACCP, GMP & ISO 22000 certified environment is preferred
  • Experience in stock control data an advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Good mathematical skills to ensure accuracy and repeatability in sample making is critical
  • Knowledge in basic SAP and using shipping tools such as DHL, UPS and Salesforce will be an advantage
  • Fluent communication and writing skills in English
  • Able to work independently and proactively with a customer service orientation
  • Ability to meet deadlines, self-managed and ability to handle multiple tasks with speed and high accuracy
