About the role


Work Location: Lonsdale, Adelaide - Australia 

Reporting To: R&D Director, ANZ

As R&D Manager, Taste at Kerry, you will be responsible for Taste Creation (predominantly Sweet) within the ANZ region, across all major End Use Markets (EUMs), customers and channels, with strong application knowledge on Beverage, Dairy and Bakery segments in particular. You will have a strong understanding of raw materials, and solid formula design and process know-how across flavor technology as well as the ability to lead and manage a small team. 

Key responsibilities


•Lead Taste Development projects from initiation to launch, interacting with process engineers, flavour experts, sales team, suppliers, manufacturing, customers, packaging, and marketing specialists to resolve problems
•Develop strong relationships with global customers and drive up win rates on key projects
•Work with cross-functional teams to optimize the strengths of Kerry and deliver the best Taste and Nutrition experience for our customers
•Utilize Kerry technology to deliver unique solutions to project brief and work closely with all EUMs within Kerry
•Partner with Taste Collections team to strengthen the Kerry customer solutions portfolio and work together with Business Development in rolling out Taste technologies
•Play leading role in technical presentations and working sessions with customers, and mentoring and training the Taste Creation team
•Work with analytical group on flavor matching projects and collaborate to develop and utilize new methods of analysis
•Employ thorough knowledge of relevant regulatory and labelling requirements for flavours, and participate in sensory panels

Qualifications and skills


•Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or relevant industry experience of at least 10-15 years of active Flavor work on the bench
•Good background in organic chemistry, food chemistry and flavor applications with good trouble-shooting skills; broad flavor experience across multiple End-Use Markets is desirable
•Strong and discerning sense of smell and taste
•People management skills are important as this role will lead a small team of staff
•Demonstrates strong ability to work with cross-functional teams at multi levels within the organization
•Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching and conflict-management skills
