About the role
The Materials Planner will be responsible for the planning and management of raw material inventory levels in a way that is effective in meeting production schedule requirements, whilst taking into account overall supply chain efficiencies and working capital targets.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure suggested purchases are actioned on a daily basis to ensure future demand is covered;
- Closely monitor purchase order delivery dates to ensure the timely availability of raw materials so that production schedules are not compromised;
- Review and action supplier delivery confirmations by making any necessary changes and communicate with the planning and production teams if orders cannot be met;
- Liaise with Suppliers; Procurement; R&D, other Supply Chain Team Members to minimise schedule disruptions due to raw material issues;
- Review safety stocks, MOQ’s and lot sizes on a periodic basis as determined by the Supply Chain Manager;
- Manage run out raw materials and change over to alternatives;
- Ensure inventory levels are maintained at predetermined levels;
- Credit claims are processed and the Procurement Team are notified of vendor performance issues.
- Engage in regular reviews of Key Suppliers with Procurement.
Qualifications and skills
- Solid understanding of basic Supply Chain Theory coupled with hands on inventory/materials planning experience;
- Strong analytical, planning and negotiation skills;
- Intermediate to advanced ERP Knowledge, SAP preferable;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that exemplify professionalism in both internal and external environments and enables effective ways of working with people from different functions and levels;
- Motivated with a drive to succeed in a demanding and challenging working environment;
- Excellent problem solver with the ability to tackle complex issues and work to tight deadlines to achieve desired outcomes.
