About the role

 

The focus of this role is to support the research and development objectives of Proactive health by applying analytical knowledge and skill to a range of functional ingredients including botanicals, fibres, pre, pro and postbiotics. To provide insights, by utilising a board range of sample preparation techniques and analytical instrumentation. Subject matter expert responsible for the analytical techniques of the Proactive Health portfolio of ingredients and support the innovation pipeline of projects.  

Key responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for developing and validating methods for the analysis of active compounds in plant extracts and botanicals 
  • Experienced with HPLC and hyphenated techniques (e.g. LC-MS, LC-MS/MS) 
  • Proven track record in development of methods from complex matrices 
  • Sample preparation expertise covering areas such as SPE, Quechers, LLE, etc 
  • Experience with fractionation and purification of active compounds utilizing techniques such as semi-preparative HPLC 
  • Troubleshooting skills 
  • Able to transfer methods to be suitable for use in quality departments for routine analysis 
  • Develop and protect Intellectual Property by documenting research notes. 
  • Employ efficient time management 
  • Travel to Kerry production plants to support RDA (Predominately Spain), and potential travel to vendors. 
  • Must be able to taste and smell chemicals, flavours and food products.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must work well in teams and understand key players. 

Qualifications and skills

 

  • BS in Food Science/ related science, ideally MS/PhD in Analytical Science  
  • 3+ years of analytical technique experience 
  • Proficient in Spanish ideally
  • Strong Microsoft excel skills 
  • Problem solving skills. 
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams at multi levels within the organization. 
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills 
  • Accepts feedback.  Flexible and resilient.
